Jim Jones is a Principal Co-Owner and CFP Board Certified Financial Planner (CFP) with Willamette Financial Advisors and has been serving clients since 1990. Jim provides Financial Planning Services with an emphasis on investments, wealth management, and retirement. In addition to his work with the individual investor, Jim also serves as an investment advisor for medium to small 401(k) plans.
Jim focuses on providing independent and objective advice that adheres to the CFP Fiduciary Standard. He helps his clients identify their financial goals; investment risk tolerance and time horizons; and helps them develop long term strategies to attain their goals. Jim specializes in offering advice on portfolio allocation, financial planning, individual retirement planning, college funding, asset management, insurance analysis and retirement plans for businesses, including SIMPLE and SEP IRAs, and 401(k)s.
Jim believes every client has unique goals and deserves a customized approach to help meet their financial objectives. He has over 20 years of expertise in helping his clients “de-risk” their portfolios by augmenting returns utilizing options.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He spent a decade working at the Chicago Board of Trade; where he worked as a broker, a market maker and advised several large CTA hedge fund clients through his own consultancy. Jim also served as the Chief Financial Officer for an innovative start-up, providing him with first-hand knowledge and experience in managing a small business.
Jim is a native of Chicago, IL and has lived in Portland since 2003. He is married and has a son. He enjoys hiking, skiing, camping and many other outdoor activities with his family that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Jim is also an active volunteer in the community.
